Second Sustainability Report documents progress across 26 investments in 26 countries, with expanded measurement of environmental and social outcomes
Singapore, 3 August 2026 – GenZero, a Temasek-owned investment platform focused on accelerating climate action globally, today released its second Sustainability Report, Steadfast in Shifting Times, recording a 47% year-on-year increase in direct realised climate impact and expanding its investment footprint across nature-based solutions, technology-based solutions, and carbon ecosystem development, and support for growth opportunities through its networks.
The Report documents 4.4 MtCO₂e of cumulative direct realised climate impact on a stake-adjusted basis from CY 2022-25 (equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately one million petrol-powered cars, or around 8% of Singapore’s total annual emissions), including 1.4 MtCO₂e delivered in CY 2025. On a combined direct and indirect basis, GenZero’s portfolio delivered 8.3 MtCO₂e of realised climate impact in CY 2025, with further gains expected as investments scale.
Scaling Impact: Key Highlights
GenZero’s portfolio, spanning 26 closed investments across 26 countries, delivered the following outcomes in the year:
- Land under sustainable management grew to over 900,000 hectares, nearly 13 times the land area of Singapore, up from ~750,000 hectares at end-2024, driven by nature-based investments across multiple geographies.
- Portfolio emissions transparency improved materially, with the share of investees measuring Scope 1 and 2 emissions rising 35 percentage points from FY 2024 to 58% of portfolio for the financial year ending 31 March 2025.
- More than 2,100 jobs were created across investee companies with GenZero’s expanded impact measurement framework that now captures social and environmental co-benefits alongside carbon metrics.

Frederick Teo, Chief Executive Officer of GenZero, said: “The strategic imperative underpinning our work remains as valid today as it was when we launched GenZero four years ago. Despite strong macro headwinds affecting climate action in the past year, extreme weather events, supply chain disruptions and the rise of AI-led energy demand all point to an undeniable fact – the need for cost-effective climate solutions is growing. As climate investors, there are significant opportunities to deploy capital to support solutions that deliver actual value and impact.
We remain disciplined in our investment work. We have grown our portfolio to include 26 closed investments across 26 countries globally and delivered an incremental 1.4 MtCO₂e of realised direct climate impact, brought 900,000 hectares of land under sustainable management, and executed our first investment into low-carbon construction materials to decarbonise another hard-to-abate sector.
Climate action does not require dogmatic adherence to an ideological agenda. Rather, we need to engage in principled pragmatism – a willingness to back commercially-viable solutions that can deliver some climate impact even if they are imperfect.”
Milestone Investments (for the financial year ending 31 March 2026)
GenZero made several strategic investments during the year:
- Terra CO2: GenZero’s inaugural investment in the built environment sector, backing a technology that transforms locally abundant, low-cost feedstocks into low-carbon cementitious construction materials, targeting one of the hardest-to-abate industrial sectors.
- The Reforestation Fund: GenZero’s first investment in Brazil, targeting the conservation, restoration, and reforestation of 270,000 hectares of degraded land across Latin America.
- The Good Rice Alliance (TGRA): Secured a long-term offtake agreement with Amazon for over 680,000 tCO₂e of carbon credits derived from methane emission reductions in rice cultivation across India.
- Imperative Spekboom Ecosystem Restoration Project: Closed a US$91 million first-of-its-kind blended finance package, comprising a World Bank Outcome Bond alongside a streaming facility from GenZero and co-investors; marking a landmark structure for nature-based solution financing.
- Seraya Partners Fund I: A new position supporting Asia’s energy transition and sustainable infrastructure development.
Driving Regional and Global Collaboration
Beyond its investment portfolio, GenZero is playing an active role in shaping the architecture of climate finance:
- Launched the Action for a Resilient Climate Coalition with partner organisations to mobilise financing towards high-quality climate projects and joined the Steering Committee.
- Expanded the Green Fuel Forward (GFF) initiative to 45 participating organisations, growing voluntary demand for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) certificates across Asia Pacific.
- Joined the All Aboard Coalition, a collaborative investor group supporting the scale-up of climate technologies.
- Joined the Steering Committee of the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework (ACCF), contributing to a more unified, transparent, and efficient carbon market across the region.
- Co-published “Foundations for the Carbon Market” with Eng and Co. LLC and PwC Singapore, in partnership with the Singapore Sustainable Finance Association calling for greater legal clarity, cross-border harmonisation, and decision-useful disclosures to strengthen voluntary carbon markets.
