SINGAPORE, 2 May 2025 – GenZero, a Temasek-owned investment platform committed to accelerating decarbonisation globally, will host the third edition of its flagship GenZero Climate Summit (“Summit”) over 5 May to 8 May 2025 in Singapore. The Summit aims to catalyse urgent action to address the climate crisis by breaking down barriers and unlocking solutions for accelerated decarbonisation.
While the world has made significant strides in international cooperation on carbon markets and decarbonisation, shifting regulatory landscapes, along with evolving perceptions of sustainability, and growing scrutiny over carbon market integrity are creating new uncertainties, threatening to stall this momentum.
Themed “Overcoming Paralysis”, the GenZero Climate Summit 2025 will focus on driving conversations to move beyond the inaction and indecision on climate action. The Summit will delve into the root causes of paralysis, including policy and regulatory uncertainty, macro headwinds, financial constraints and weakened trust in carbon markets.
Frederick Teo, Chief Executive Officer of GenZero said, “We are past the stage of awareness and pledges; the real challenge now is execution and impact. The GenZero Climate Summit 2025 is about cutting through inertia and turning roadblocks into stepping stones for progress. We are bringing together global leaders to drive tangible solutions that can scale and deliver meaningful climate impact. The world cannot afford to wait – business, investors and policymakers must step up with urgency, collaboration and innovation to make net zero a reality.”
Notable speakers at the Summit include: Dr Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Ravi Menon, Climate Action Ambassador at the National Climate Change Secretariat, Singapore; Rachel Kyte, Special Representative for Climate in the UK Government; Albert P. Dela Cruz Sr., Commissioner of Climate Change Commission, Philippines; Mandy Rambharos, CEO of Verra; Amy Merrill, CEO of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market; Mark Kenber, Executive Director of the Voluntary Carbon Markets Initiative; Tommy Ricketts, CEO and Co-founder of BeZero.
Apart from the main Summit on 6 May 2025, GenZero will be convening three new events this year.
- 5 May 2025: The GenZero Climate Summit Insights (“GCS Insights”) is a new collaborative series of events that GenZero will co-organise with like-minded organisations from time to time. The series will unlock fresh perspectives from GenZero and other partner organisations on pressing climate and sustainability issues. The first edition of GCS Insights will be organised in partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board and Enterprise Singapore. It will focus on the role of public-private partnerships in scaling carbon project development opportunities in Southeast Asia. The 2025 programme will also spotlight the growing need for talent and capacity-building efforts to accelerate carbon finance and unlock decarbonisation opportunities in Singapore and the wider region.
- 7 May 2025: The GenZero Climate Summit 2025: Closed-door Regulatory Roundtable (“Roundtable”) is an invitation-only forum focused on the critical role of regulatory oversight to effectively build and scale a high-quality and well-functioning voluntary carbon market. Designed to foster candid and constructive dialogue, the Roundtable will dive deep into implications of the current regulatory landscape, and the possible pathways forward to shore up trust and integrity for the voluntary carbon market. It follows from an inaugural roundtable organised by GenZero during COP29.
- 8 May 2025: The GenZero Climate Summit 2025: The CEO Gathering (“Gathering”) will bring together C-suite leaders at climate solutions companies, technology firms, multilateral development banks and international standard setters, as well as senior government representatives, to exchange insights on future-proofing carbon businesses. The invitation-only Gathering aims to foster dynamic discussions among key decision-makers on ways for businesses to build strategic resilience in a rapidly developing carbon market landscape.
